So Long, Farewell, Aufweirdesiangueu… I don’t know how to spell that word.

Well, my minions, we’ve had a merry lark together, haven’t we? The Sarcastic Elf has been alive and well for almost sixteen months now, and in that time, I’ve met so many cool people, and learned so many cool things. My writing life has expanded astronomically through this endeavor, and I can truly say it’s been a wonderful experience.

But now, the time has come to bid farewell.

*dramatic music*

*prolonged staring into the sunset*

*eternal sobbing*

For a month.

Yeah, you won’t be rid of me that easily. Sorry to disappoint you. But it’s still true: I’ll be taking an internet hiatus for a month, beginning tomorrow, the 1st of June. It was a long and convoluted process that brought me to this decision, and I’ll spare you the gory details. Suffice it to say, God’s been working on my heart lately, and I’ve come to realize (literally yesterday) that my writing was taking top priority in my life, becoming more important than my relationship with Him. I’m not satisfied with that. So this will be a month of refocusing on my Savior, away from the distractions “my own” accomplishments bring. Which includes writing. And blogging. And most of my internet presence.

Yaaaay.

It must also be mentioned that I always slightly scoffed at people who took blog-hiatuses, because HA, look at them, they can’t handle the stress. I’LL never do something like that.

Meanwhile, God says, “Oh YEAH??”

So, for now, I will bid you adieu, my friends. May we meet again, in this life or the next—or in July, as the case may be.

You better miss me.

*salutes* Ethryndal out.

~Sarah

  2. You will be missed gif throwing elf… *listens to your dramatic music*
I believe you were trying to spell ‘au revoir’, which is French for farewell. Now you have learned something new. Tada. :3

    1. It is good to be missed. Here is a gif for your trouble. *gif*

Au revoir works. Or Adieu. Or Aufwehugidasan, that funky German word they sing in The Sound of Music. What’s with all these goodbye words that start with A…?

      1. For some reason one lacks the oomph the other gifs have… I wonder why. 😛

Maybe they start with the first letter of the alphabet because they don’t want it to be the end. Or at least so sad, endings are sad if they are the end because then there is no more. So it is a subtle reminder that instead adieu is the beginning of a new chapter. That it is not final, you may still return back to whatever or whoever it was again. But for now, au revoir.
(That is all speculation of course)

  7. I absolutely love sound of music!!! The word is “Aufwiedersehn”, literally meaning “till the next time we see each other”. You are now one word smarter in German. Your welcome. ;P
I totally get the feeling when you have to take a break from something though… I’ve had to go through periods like that a couple times…

  9. Aww… bye Sarah! Though I do understand the need for a short hiatus, and for a break as well. I’m not (too) upset. Well, I was, when I read the title, but then I got to “for a month” and calmed down. Anyway. See you in a month!
