Liebster Award (because I’m special and got nominated twice)

Guys.

I’m special.

I got nominated again for the Liebster Award, and because I’ve recently discovered an inner soul connection with blog tags of all varieties, I’m totally doing this thing.

(And I also kinda didn’t feel like writing anything sensible this week. But anyway.)

So, official rules and regulations are as follows:

  • Acknowledge the blog that gave it to you and display the award.
  • Answer the 11 questions that the blogger gives you.
  • Give 11 random facts about yourself.
  • Nominate 11 blogs.
  • Notify those blogs of their nomination.
  • Give them 11 questions to answer.

Cas from Cas.tle (I see what you did there… clever word play) thank you very much for tagging me. Here’s a random award picture, just for you.

The Leibester Award

Am I not the kindest, most generous soul?

*cough*

Onward.

1. What was 7th grade like for you? (assuming you’re older than 7th grade)

Vacuous. 7th grade was very vacuous.

(So you see guys, in a stunning turn of events, my blog is actually educational. It makes you look up the definition for weird words.)

2. What’s the best pet you’ve ever met that didn’t belong to you?

elk

Okay, okay, technically I didn’t meet Thranduil. Still. The guy rides an elk. How is that not cool?

3. Who is someone underrated who should be famous?

The guy who invented indoor plumbing.

4. What do you do to feel better when you’re having a bad day?

Wallow in it, because WHY would I want to feel better when I can be a drama queen instead?

*cough*

I don’t do that. (Be quiet, mom.)

Honestly, I don’t even know what I do when I’m feeling bad. I just sort of ignore it and muck through.

5. What’s a song that you like that no one else seems to?

*not so subtly ignores the question*

6. If you could fly, would you?

Um…

YEAH.

7. What’s the best blanket you own?

Old amish hand-made quilt thing that’s WARM.

(And a point goes to Sarah for her poetic capabilities.)

8. If you were a weather, what weather would you be?

*descends into full-blown poet mode*

I want to be the wind. Wind, which can bite just as quick as it can sooth, scream just as quick as it can murmur. I want to be the mischievous breeze of autumn, tumbling and leaping and laughing merrily, stinging skin and bringing change. I want to be the gusts that blow in on the winter night, leaving the world different in my wake. I want to be the cyclone of summer, unpredictable and unmanageable and always, always dangerous. I want to be the breeze that trembles in the springtime air, caressing cheeks, playing with hair, whispering “It’s alright, tomorrow will be different.”

*silence*

Look, you asked for poetry, so you got poetry. It’s not my fault.

9. Lamps or nightlights?

Nightlights. They’re glowy.

‘Nuff said.

10. Who’s the first person who comes to mind when I say “taco”?

taco

Yeah, I’m weird.

11. What’s something unusual that makes you happy?

When people borrow my books and don’t crease the covers up. Seriously, guys. Just because it’s a book and it’s supposed to be read doesn’t mean we should make the spine age ten years in one day.

(I’m looking at you, Anna…)

Okay. Now for 11 random facts.

1. I….

2. Can’t think of 11 facts.

3. I once spelled “George Washington” as “Gorge Washington”. So that was cool.

I can’t think of 11 bloggers either.

Tag yourself if you want to, and if you don’t want to…. don’t.

I’m so good at this.

Anyway, because I’ve been chided several times for not asking any questions, here are my questions to all and sundry who want to participate.

  1. Would you rather fall out of a tree, or touch an electric fence? (To start off violently…)
  2. If you could be an element (fire, water, air, earth) which would you choose?
  3. Heroes or villains?
  4. What’s the worst piece of advice someone’s ever given you?
  5. Chocolate or vanilla?
  6. Would you rather step in horse manure, or have an old, chewed up wad of gum get stuck to your hand?
  7. Who are the three fictitious characters you wish the author would have burned at the stake?
  8. Who are the three fictitious characters you think deserved so much more than what that cruel author gave them?
  9. What is something that makes you laugh EVERY SINGLE TIME you see it?
  10. Sword or bow?
  11. What is the one word that describes your life?

Go forth, my brave little ducklings, and conquer.

~Sarah

  1. Hi Sarah!
I am not doing this tag again, but I wanted to answer your second question. I would be air, because then I could go anywhere, and if I wasn’t somewhere, people would die. Because they NEED me to live. And so I would try to be everywhere. Though I might fall into a serious depression of guilt if I couldn’t save someone, like I knew someone was in a vacuum, but I couldn’t get to them, and I had to see them die…
Yeah, you know what? I think I would want to be water instead. People need water to live as well, but at least I can’t go just anywhere and be haunted with those dying faces I couldn’t save.
But if I had another choice, I would be me, and would try to be someone that people need, or really want, to make their life better and a little sweeter. That would be the best thing.

  2. Well looky there Sarah, you are getting popular!
Ooh yes, I would love to be the wind. If I had to be weather that is. Very nice poetry btw ;).
I was convulsed with laughter when I read that last part….”Go forth my little ducklings and conquer.” I think that’s the first time I’ve been called a duckling before 😂.

  3. OH MY GOSH MATT MEESE THE TACO FOR THE WIN

I’m just going to pretend like I was nominated and do it along with like three other tags at the same time. Because I’m imaginative like that. So thanks for this and stuff.

Thranduil’s elk is awesome! I had never thought about wanting it for a pet, though… 😀
Very nice poetry! I think I would like to be snow, if I were weather.

Oohh, yay for glowy lights! *huddles*

Despite the fact that you don’t know 11 bloggers, apparently, a lot of bloggers know you. 😀

I’m not quite sure HOW they know me… it just sort of happened. *innocent shrug* What can I say. I’m wildly popular. *flips hair over shoulder, and promptly trips down the stairs*

  7. I loved your bit of wind poetry, so I’m going to answer with some of my own(at the bottom of this reply), but not about wind. Wind poetry that’s not about wind. Huh. Look at me, I’m a genius already. And I just want to answer number 9 of the questions you gave: My friend Hayden. He makes me laugh every time I see him. Sooo… yeah. There’s your answer. Just two more things before you get a poem thingy. I noticed the taco reference! First, unfortunately, that was not the first thing that came to MY mind when I read the word taco, but i think that’s just my problem. Second, sorry for the long reply, there’s just a lot I want to say after reading your posts.
    Now, if I was weather…
I would be a storm. Not the pathetic, wimpy storms that shower gently on your head for the barest moment before dissolving into a clear sunny sky, but the kind of storm that thunders and roars in the sky, defying the universe to try and stand against it. A storm that in the same day brings destruction to all that is below, and brings life in the form of rain to the thin blades of grass peeking up out of the ground. The storm that stays all day, raining and hailing and causing you misery while you are all snuggled up in your nice warm blankets. The storm that leaves a rainbow behind. I would be the storm that circles the world, never ceasing, never slowing, and never caring about what I took or left behind. I would be the storm that rules the skies, and when those who claim the skies as their own come to me I would show them true power.
In other words, I would be a highstorm. *Stormlight Archive fangirl alert goes off*

    1. “Defying the universe to try and stand against it.”

I really like that line, for some reason. Very nice wind poetry. (That’s not about wind.) Watch if bub, you’re going to upstage me. 😉

          1. It is. Picture the worst storm you possibly can, then increase its strength by 1,000. Highstorms are strong enough to rip up whole buildings, tear apart mountains, and just to add to the awesome factor, they bring with them this awesome power called stormlight that enters gemstones and gets stored in them so that later on people called Radiants can use that stormlight to fuel their powers. Read the Starlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson. It is VERY good.

                  1. Yay! The Mistborn books were awesome, (Vin is easily my favorite,) but I like the Stormlight Archive SO much better. It is my favorite book series.

            1. Yeep, Mistborn! I’m starting on the third one soon (so no spoilers, guys), and they’re AMAZING. I didn’t know he wrote stuff besides those six books though, so… *dashes off to look it up* NO SPOILERS, GUYS. Protect the Supreme Dictator of this blog.

              1. *sighs* But I LIKE giving (and getting) spoilers… fine. I shall obey you as the Supreme Dictator of this blog, and not give spoilers. And you should definitely read more than just Mistborn. I think everything he writes is great, but the Stormlight Archive is the best. Wow, i’ve been writing “the Starlight Archive” over and over again… you can probably tell I”m a major fangirl.

        1. Did someone say highstorms?

          DID SOMEONE SAY HIGHSTORMS!!???

(That second one was my pet dragon, to be clear)

The Stormlight Archive is the BEST. Even better than cinnamon rolls and pizza. The highstorms recharging the gemstones was such a good idea that I had a temper tantrum when I read it and realized I couldn’t steal that idea

          1. YES I DID SAY HIGHSTORMS!!!!
It’s cool that you have a pet dragon. I wish I did, but I sort of live on Roshar, so I have a spren instead of a dragon. The Stormlight Archive is my most favorite series ever. It is so good.

  8. If I could be an element, I think I would be water. It’s peaceful and calm at times, but loud and storm and destructive at others. I’m more of a quiet person outwardly, but if I took the time to get mad at people… oh boy. Watch out, world. I’m here.

  9. 1. I’ve done both, so I can say I’d rather fall out of the tree. Because for that to happen means I’d been up in a tree to start with, which is a Good Thing (in most circumstances).
    3. Heroes or villains for what purpose? It depends. Sometimes I want to consult with villains for story purposes, but to generally be around and spend time with, I much prefer someone I can trust without having to be always watching him.
    5. Chocolate!
    6. Horse manure. It’s actually not that bad, as they don’t eat meat, whereas chewed gum is all kinds of unhygienic.
    7. Trying not to give away spoilers here, but the guy who turned into a spider in the Wingfeather Saga needs a thorough burning. I can’t think of any others, so let’s burn him three times over — he deserves it.
    8. Pearlie and Terry from War of Loyalties, and I can’t think of anyone else.
    10. Quill
    11. Unfinished? I mean, it’s a bit early to tell.

    1. Hey guys, speaking of the Wingfeather Saga, does it get better after the first book? I’ve heard such amazing things about it, so I got the first book at the library (because it’s the only one they have), and while I can’t make a judgement yet ’cause I’m not even halfway through, some of my other siblings have read it and the general consensus is that it could be better. I mean…it’s funny, but doesn’t seem particularly amazing like I’ve heard people yelling over. So I wondered. When that happens, I obviously come to consult the INTJ and INTP bookworms who are totally happy to make fun of anything even if it’s a lauded thing. I’ve observed both of you say good things about the WS though, so I’m imagining they get better.

      1. IF WE’RE TALKING ABOUT WINGFEATHER, PLEASE NO SPOILERS. I’ve only read the first book too. And while it was definitely cute, I’ve been banking my hopes on the fact that the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th are better. Because the book I read, while DEFINITELY not horrible, didn’t really seem deserving of all the hype it’s received.

        Like

        1. They do get better! The first book can be silly a lot of the time, but that wears off really quickly. The authour said that he was a bit ashamed when he started writing the series, so he’d say things like “I’m writing a fantasy novel — but it’s for kids, and it has funny parts”. So my theory is that he was trying to control the story too much in the first book, and keeping it to “safe” writing. In the second book, the story ran away with him, and it gets a lot better from there.

  10. (P.S. Just so you know, I’m profusely sorry, O Supreme Dictator of this blog, if you have to moderate my comments every single time but you don’t have to with anyone else’s. It’s because if this silly wordpress account that is Elizabeth’s but that I put my own name on when I comment so it thinks it has to be moderated every time in case of cyber insecurity or something. At least, that’s how it is on Kate’s blog. She has to moderate every comment I make, while everyone else’s are automatic. So, I’m dreadfully sorry if it’s any inconvenience.
BUT, if you DO have to moderate everyone’s, and it’s NOT like Kate’s blog, then never mind. Do forget I said anything. 😛 )

    1. Yeah, it’s the same here as it is with Kate’s, but it’s not really a problem. I read all the comments that come through anyway (obviously), so clicking an extra button to approve yours isn’t TOO much of a hassle… 😉 In the words of Captain Pellew, “Your apology has been noted.” *stalks off*
