Project Caribou // writing news + unrelated whining

I wrote a book about caribou and death. (Literally.) I wanted it to be a fun, romping story about a Christmas world. Somewhere along the line those intentions went horribly awry, and became what I have now: 90,000 words of heavy prose and sad characters. Periodically I’ll hear things like “Your blog is hilarious, so [...]

Hey, You!

–I’M SARAH–

Oddball sarcasm enthusiast, INTJ, and Christian author/artist combo. I’m a paradox in human form, a purveyor of caustic wit, a reluctant people-lover, and an idealistic cynic who sees the world through cracks in rose-colored glasses.

I also have a tendency to fry people’s minds. Read on at your own peril.

2023 began with the loss of my grandmother.
Ode to 2022. Despite grief and upheaval, I’m forever thankful for the people who kept it from being a bad year. Let’s do it again sometime.
A little Canadian adventure with my sister and niece, featuring coffee, baby drool, and a very aesthetic mirror. Being the navigational masterminds that we are, we got lost. Twice. In her own hometown, no less.
Entering into my cool aunt era.
This is Hope. We’re both INTJs. We both have the personality of a feral wet cat but wear pastel colors anyway. She has published a multitude of epic, stabby books. I haven’t published a single word. She once named her car a fearsome dragon name. I call my car Gerald. She’s been wrangling troubled youth in the jungles of the Dominican Republic for two years. I grumble petty insults at teenagers who drink soda in the library. She is, in most ways, much cooler than me.
June/July felt like the water balloon of chaos I’ve been blithely tossing around all year finally burst on my head. Everything that could POSSIBLY happen has happened, not least being I turned 21 and am now expected to somehow Know What I’m Doing. (Ha.) A few summer highlights include:
Old art, but still relevant. Happy Independence Day!
Book poetry, made from a damaged copy of the Magician’s Nephew.
By some miracle, our lovely editor didn’t make me take out the part where I refer to Tolkien’s literary masterpieces as “nifty stuff,” and I’m both astonished and grateful for this burst of generosity. Behold, link in bio.
